Receiving a Commission

When I am given a commission I work hard to come to terms with the client’s vision. The client and I communicate continually, especially at the beginning. Communication involves sending samples and getting feedback.
Large commissions, which involve multiple aspects, involve spending many, many hours experimenting with different hand spun yarns because each fleece has different characteristics.
Presently I am challenged to produce a fairly robust yarn for the body of a piece of work and several other yarns for the “trims”.To date I have spun at least 7 different samples.
