Dyeing: The Council has been at work clearing young trees from the local road so I spent time getting some gum leaves. My preliminary extraction suggests another colour in the yellow-green range. This week I will dye some samples and use different modifiers on them.

It’s the time of year when the eucalyptus sideroxylon tree comes into flower, so I am out foraging for the opened and unopened flowers. Hopefully this season I might be able to extend the range of colour I manage to get from both flowers and leavers.

Knitting and Spinning: There are two yarns sitting waiting for inspiration. Both are dyed with avocado pits. One is a very, very fine yarn of suri alpaca and silk and the other is a more robust yarn. I am tossing up between two titles – classy rustic or a study in contrasts. And also two techniques: entrelac or intarsia. Some experimenting is in order.
