Pomegranate Dyeing 2

Into the small dye pot, which yielded the colour illustrated (discussed last week), I added another small skein, heated gently again and, without leaving it to cool overnight found the skein had also given the colour shown on the left.Now I suspect further dyebaths will become greener and then perhaps move towards a yellowish brown.

Unfortunately I don’t have enough residual colour to use any mordants.But I do want to keep dyeing small skeins to exhaust the pigment.

If I am fortunate enough to again collect from the same tree (possibly an ornamental variety of pomegranate) and there is sufficient dye material, there might be a possibility of a whole skein of beautiful yarn.
